38 Weeks and Working

Yep, you read that right.  I am 38 weeks today and facilitating not one, not two or three, but FOUR countdowns!

First to be checked off the list is my last day at work, which will happen in three more days (yahoo!).  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my job, but there is something not so fun about rolling out of bed after a rocky night's sleep, waiting for the heat to kick in, and spending the next 8 hours talking to people who are seemingly clueless about everything--all the while, lugging around a twitchy little busy body who likes to karate chop my bladder just because.

Next, I'll be able to check off Christmas break for the kids!  This one is actually much more fun and exciting because it means we can stay up late watching movies and eating popcorn, driving around the neighborhood checking out Christmas lights, and shaking and arranging gifts underneath the tree, trying our best to guess who got what?

Third on the list to mark off is Christmas, of course.  I probably don't need to explain why this is such an awesome countdown, but I will say that celebrating the birth of Christ Jesus is top on the list.  Christmas breakfast, watching the kids open up their presents, and eating Christmas dinner at my mom's are also on the list of why Christmas is so special for us.

Finally, and not soon enough to be honest, we are counting down baby boy's due date!  I am so excited, I can hardly wait to breastfeed him, touch him, hug him, protect him, kiss him--I especially cannot wait to see the looks on Zeke and Nomi's faces when they see their brother for the first time.  Brings tears to my eyes just thinking of that moment.  We love you poo-poo...and cannot wait to meet you!

We finally got our Christmas tree!  We drove up to Camino (out near Apple Hill) and cut down a nice tall tree.  There was ice (my kids said it was snow) on the ground, hot apple cider and a nice big fire burning at the tree farm we visited.  It was a great day even though I slipped on the icy mud half a dozen times.  The sad news is that the tree farm we usually cut from was closed.  The McGee family lost their son in a fatal car accident just a few weeks ago.  They decided to shut down the farm for the season and take some time to heal.  The great thing about the McGee farm is that they have a loyal following and lots of support from their community and beyond in their time of sorrow.

Here's a little glimpse into how our day went...

I know it's difficult to tell from the pictures, but Naomi and I did very little while daddy and Zeke cut down the tree.  Maybe I'll even get around to posting a picture of our tree all dolled up.  It stands about 7 feet tall (maybe higher), it's a little skinnier than we're used to and it's got a couple gaps throughout.  It's not perfect but then again, who/what ever is?

One last thing...take a look at what I am about to make for Christmas dessert!  WHOA NELLY!

Until next time...xoxo

P.S. Baby boy, can you please try and lay off the bladder just a little?  I am running to the bathroom every 10 minutes and you punching me in the bladder doesn't make things any more tolerable.  Love you sweets, mommy.

    1. We never had real trees as kids and when I married Isaac, he had never had a fake one. So of course I followed his lead and I am so happy I did!
