BOOM!

I can't believe I did not mention this when it first happened.  I think it's interesting and it took me a while to make the connection.

Everyone knows I am clumsy.  My husband mocks me all the time.  He laughs in disbelief and shakes his head when I trip over nothing, walk into walls, and drop things--repeatedly.  Since pregnant with baby number three I have fallen going UP the stairs on more than one occasion, missed several steps while walking DOWN the stairs and ended up sliding the rest of the way on my behind,  walked into countless walls, and my latest disaster...hit a parked car while trying (unsuccessfully) to parallel park.

It was last Friday night and the kids and I were determined to grab some pizza from Pete's in downtown Sacramento.  Like I said, it was Friday and parking was a nightmare.  But then (insert triumphant music) lo' and behold, I spotted it!  The perfect parking space.  All I had to do was make it across two lanes of dizzying traffic and slide right into the spot in front of the Prius.  If only it were that easy.  Needless to say my pregnancy hormones were squishing my brain and clogging my vision, so much so that when I pulled into the space in front of the Prius, I misjudged my space and BOOM!  My rear right fender did a booty bump with the front left fender of the Prius.  All I could hear was the "cha-ching" of higher premiums and my kids in the backseat gasping in disbelief.  "Mommy!  Did you just hit that car?  I can't believe you just hit that car!"

No need to worry, I did the right thing.  I wrote a note that stated how pregnant sorry I was, that I was eating dinner with my children who I rescued and adopted from Ethiopia during a missionary trip, and my phone number written in ancient hieroglyphics.  It's been one week and I haven't heard from him at all.  Now that I think of it, I really had no need to worry!  He drove a Prius after all, now if he'd have been driving a BMW or a Honda (like me), I'm sure I'd have received a phone call by now.  Come on, you can't deny it, it takes a certain kind of person to drive a Prius.  Right?

Oh, and about the connection I spoke of earlier?  It took me a few days but I realized that with all three of my pregnancies, I have caused damage to a vehicle in some way or another.  While pregnant with my son I rear-ended a young girl whose name I can't remember but sounds a lot like "Timex."  She drove a BEAT UP old Honda and took mercy on me, the clumsy woman with the protruding stomach.  I should mention that the brakes in my BEAT UP old Honda had given out somewhat and attributed to the accident.  I was fine, she was fine (no claim was made) and I sent my Honda to Honda heaven several weeks later.

Then there was the time I was pregnant with my daughter and driving my husband's BRAND NEW van.  Oy vey!  I made a U-turn and somehow managed to work my way up on the curb and created the most subtle dent in the left passenger side door.  My husband looked at me and seeing the worry in my eyes, and once again my protruding belly said, "it's okay Chi Chi."  Thank God.

Oh and just so you know, I was able to wipe off the damage I did to my own car last Friday and was tempted to wipe off the little bit of damage I caused to the Prius.  But, I thought it'd be better to leave it as is.  Given my history, I should turn in my license and take the bus until I deliver my angel, but a girl has got things to do!

xoxo

  2. Yes it will, mom! They will have plenty more stories to tell too, as this is not the only uh-oh I've had since being pregnant. :)
